As global temperatures continue to rise, climate change has evolved from a potential future risk into an immediate reality, exerting profound impacts on Earth’s ecosystems and human socio-economic systems. As a global issue with dual environmental and developmental dimensions, climate change imposes higher demands on China to accelerate the comprehensive green transformation of its socio-economic development. In this process, climate finance plays a pivotal role in guiding capital flows, promoting industrial integration, and advancing environmental transparency, necessitating the urgent establishment and improvement of a climate finance system. However, the development of climate finance in China currently faces numerous challenges, such as the need to improve climate finance infrastructure, optimize the climate finance standards system, address the gap in climate finance scale, regulate corporate greenwashing behavior, address regional imbalances in carbon pricing mechanisms, and prevent the cross-market transmission of climate transition risks. At the same time, innovating climate finance policies and tools, expanding corporate climate financing channels, attracting more social capital into low-carbon industries, and actively participating in and leading global climate governance have become urgent priorities.
In this context, the 11th carbon neutrality and climate finance forum will be held on July 11-12, 2025, at Changsha. The forum is jointly organized by the Energy Finance Committee of the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS) and the Climate Finance Subcommittee of the Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics (“Shuangfa” Society), hosted by the Business School Of Hunan University, and co-organized by the Hunan Provincial Society of Systems Engineering and Management.
