The tenth carbon neutrality and climate finance forum

At the beginning of 2025, the Chinese government submitted its First Biennial Transparency Report and First Biennial Update Report on climate change to the Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). In the reports, the government clearly stated that due to China’s coal-dominated energy structure, which remains difficult to change in the short term, achieving the “dual carbon” goals—carbon peaking and carbon neutrality—remains a formidable challenge. Meanwhile, the global climate crisis continues to trigger extreme weather events, posing significant uncertainties and challenges to socioeconomic development.

In this context, as China advances its green and low-carbon transition in economic and social spheres, it is essential to remain vigilant against potential climate risks, improve institutional mechanisms within financial institutions for climate risk management, and provide strong support for the realization of the dual carbon goals.

Against this backdrop, the 10th carbon neutrality and climate finance forum will be held on May 10, 2025, at China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT). The forum is jointly organized by the Energy Finance Committee of the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS) and the Climate Finance Subcommittee of the Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics (“Shuangfa” Society), hosted by the School of Economics and Management, CUMT, and co-organized by the Green Finance Research Center at CUMT.

In recent years, the School of Economics and Management at CUMT has been actively conducting research on major national strategies and pressing societal concerns. It has developed distinctive strengths in fields such as energy and resource management, green consumption and sustainable development, carbon market governance, environmental accounting, and financial risk management, and has made significant academic contributions in these areas.

The forum aims to provide a high-quality academic exchange platform for domestic researchers focusing on dual carbon economy and climate finance. Through paper presentations and related activities, it seeks to foster in-depth discussion on key issues surrounding climate finance and the green and low-carbon transition. We warmly invite experts, scholars, and professionals from all sectors to gather in Xuzhou, Jiangsu in May, and contribute to China’s green and low-carbon future.

We welcome submissions of academic papers in, but not limited to, the fields of dual carbon economy and climate finance. All submissions will be reviewed by the Forum’s Academic Committee. Papers must be unpublished full manuscripts in Chinese or English, submitted in PDF format only. Please indicate “10th Forum on Carbon Neutrality and Climate Finance” in the email subject line and include the author’s name and affiliation/status (e.g., faculty member, Ph.D. student) in the email body.
